Total KRA Duty
Full duty breakdown
Every figure matches the official KRA valuation template
This is the KRA duty only — not your total cost
Your full landed cost also includes the purchase price, shipping from Japan (≈KES 80–150K), marine insurance, port clearing (≈KES 30–60K), NTSA registration, and road transport from Mombasa.
How KRA calculates import duty
KRA uses the official CRSP (Current Retail Selling Price) list as the starting value for every car. The CRSP is adjusted by a KRA factor and the car's age to arrive at the Customs Value, from which five levies are charged.
CRSP × (1 − depreciation%) ÷ 2.4469 = Customs Value (CV)
Import DutyCV × 25%
Excise Duty(CV + ID) × 20%
VAT(CV + ID + ED) × 16%
IDFCV × 2.25% (min KES 5,000)
RDLCV × 1.5%
